REVIEW:

KUV100 is Mahindra’s new entry into the compact hatchback segment. Built on a new platform, the KUV is the SUV amongst the hatchbacks with its larger dimensions. Mahindra has stacked up the KUV with features and technology to ensure that the new entrant has the firepower to compete with the established players in the segment.

Coming in with a contemporary take on tallboy masculine hatchback design.

The Mahindra KUV100 is shorter than 4 metres in length, thereby utilizing the excise duty benefits

MAHINDRA KUV100 EXTERIOR:

Mahindra has carried forward the butch lines of the XUV500 and the styling seems to be inspired by SsangYong.The tall design gets a high bonnet and a pronounced shoulder line that accentuates the length of the sub-four metre car.

The slim headlamps with DRLs give it a premium look. The ground clearance is 170mm despite the 14-inch wheels.The sloping roofline towards the back makes the car look a bit smaller from behind. The rear door gets a Chevrolet Beat-like window mounted door handle.

MAHINDRA KUV100 INTERIOR:

The tall-boy design ensures enough headroom for the front as well as good headroom for the rear passengers in spite of the sloping roof.The seating is upright which results in good cabin space despite the smaller dimensions. There is a sixth seat available if you want to squeeze in between the driver and the front passenger and it also gets a lap belt for safety.

The gear lever is mounted on the dashboard to provide legroom for the front middle passenger.The top-end versions get black interiors while the lower versions feature grey. The four-speaker music system gets Bluetooth and USB connectivity along with steering mounted controls.

MAHINDRA KUV100 PERFORMANCE AND HANDLING:

The steering is light and quick with every response made to it. Moreover, making a quick U-turn is not at all difficult even if it is done single-handed.The engine is not that special, but it is good enough and the engine responds well to the throttle. Overall, driving the Mahindra KUV100 is fun, but going too fast through the corners can be a silly act.

MAHINDRA KUV 1OO BRAKING AND SAFETY:

Braking system is formed by the ventilated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear.

Other vital braking features inset to support the brakes affixed in front and back comprise of anti-lock-braking system along with electronic brake force distribution, which is standard across all variants.

MAHINDRA KUV100 ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION:

The Mahindra KUV100 engine line-up consists of all-new mFALCON petrol and diesel units, for the gasoline and diesel trims respectively. The two petrol variants employ a 1.2 litre, mFALCON G80 petrol engine good for top power of 82 bhp at 5500 RPM along with maximum torque of 115 Nm between 3500 – 3600 RPM.

Mahindra KUV100 transmission is a conventional five-speed manual gearbox and drive is delivered to the front wheels.
